- Reading is fun again with the amazing power of WebApps
- 2010-02-09 19:22:45
In these last few months we've released a huge upgrade to our Reader app. Reader was re-coded from the ground up to function completely offline.
What's new for you
In addition to being 60% faster, we've added hundreds of new features in the Reader upgrade. Here are just a couple of examples.
Reader now helps you read faster with Auto-scroll. Auto-scroll is a unique feature which makes your books act like movie credits. So you will never have to turn another page again. Just relax in a cozy spot, open up Reader, then choose a perfect auto-scroll speed (maybe something challenging) and enjoy your books. You will notice yourself finishing more of your books in less time.
Another recent addition to Reader is a built in Dictionary. The next time you run into a word you don't know, you won't need to write it down or be forced to open up your computer. Having a dictionary always within reach will improve your vocabulary and help you understand more of what you read.
Rebuilding Reader
Rebuilding Reader has been a very rewarding experience. Our hope with Reader was that once you started using it you would completely forget that you are using a WebApp. There are many benefits to WebApps, most importantly they free you from having to download and install all those updates. We can publish updates every night, and you get the updates instantly without having to install anything. Bugs are taken care of faster and features are added in a matter of hours rather than weeks.
A quick shout-out to all of our Reader users, thanks for all the feedback, we really appreciate it. There are many more updates to come to Reader and we hope you will join us as we evolve Reader and the idea of mobile WebApps.
If you haven't tried Reader we're really excited to hear what you think. Grab your iPhone (or iPod Touch), open Safari, and navigate to http://reader.dbelement.com You can start adding books by opening the Reader BookManager on your computer.
Visit the Reader description page to learn more about Reader.
PS: As many of you discovered, Reader works on almost any modern smart phone. Go ahead launch it on your Droid, Nexus One (any 2.0+ Android phone) and Palm Pre.
- Noter2 Desktop: Organization at its best
- 2009-08-02 04:52:13
- In the last few days Noter2 Desktop has been upgraded with many new features and usability improvements. Before a rundown of the updates we just wanted to give a big thanks to all of our users (you).
Thank you for all of your comments and suggestions. We appreciate your feedback and constant support.
Updates:
- The Noter2 Desktop layout was completely retooled. The interface is now more user friendly and it gave us room to add features.
- Noter2 is simple and easy to use. We wanted to make it even easier for keyboard purists (keyboard junkies?). There are a multitude of keyboard shortcuts now available. Quickly jump through lists by using the "[" and "]" keys, add notes by hitting "A", exit the "Add notes" screen by hitting "Esc". These keyboard shortcuts will help you save time while using Noter2. For a complete list of shortcuts take a look at our help section.
- Getting things done is great, that is the reason we built Noter2. Now, under every note there is a "done" button allowing you to cross off completed notes. Whew, that wasn't so hard!
- Synced from the wrong account? Used "Send" instead of "Get" on your iPhone? No problem, you can now use the "Revert Sync" function in Noter2 Desktop to instantly go back up to 5 syncs. Never lose notes again, and never worry about accidental syncing.
- Noter2 Desktop was upgraded with a handy search function. Instantly search by keywords or note color.
Noter2 Desktop was upgraded from version 2.3 to 2.8.5 in just 3 days. It has become a much more robust application giving you the flexibility and the features you need.
Again, a big thanks to all of our users. Please don't hesitate to e-mail us if you have questions or need help using any of the features.
Make sure to check our help section for quick walkthroughs. Also, take a look at our screencasts section for video tutorials.
As always, Noter2 Desktop is completely free. Just navigate your browser to the Noter2 Desktop page and click on "Launch Web Application". Noter2 Desktop will run on almost any system with a web browser.
You can sync Noter2 Desktop with the iPhone/iPod Touch Application. The iPhone/iPod Touch App is available in the App Store for $6.99

- Organize your life with Noter2
- 2009-02-06 10:41:25
We're excited to announce the latest update to Noter2. We took many of your suggestions and did our best to put together a solid update.
The latest version of Noter2 (v1.7) allows you to move your lists the same way you move your notes. This enables you to easily rearrange and organize your lists to your liking.
The most popular request dBelement received: adding a note titles feature. We took your suggestion, and added this to our update. If you have a note without a title, it will simply appear just as it did before. When you add a title the entire note is hidden and button titled 'show note' will be available under the heading.
The latest release also adds the same features that you have on your iPhone to the Desktop version of Noter2.
For the next round of updates, we will be working on exporting to Outlook, adding password protection to Noter2 and a couple of exciting new features that we won't reveal just yet.
Hope you guys enjoy the update!
UPDATE: (2008-02-12) You can now export your notes into outlook. Simply mail your notes to your e-mail address, click on the secure URL and tap on CSV export at the bottom of your list. The CSV file can then be imported into Outlook into your Tasks folder!
